I will certainly see the BBC4 documentary, but assuming the paintings haven't been destroyed, I don't understand why they still haven't been found since 1990. People would dob in their own parents for a 10 million dollar reward.Helshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02849907428208235392noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3067098918914268503.post-63198709530683727122020-10-11T23:25:14.327+11:002020-10-11T23:25:14.327+11:00The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston is o...The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston is offering a $10m reward for information leading to its paintings’ recovery. Charles Hill, a former head of the Met’s art and antiques squad, followed a credible lead to west Dublin last autumn. But now, just as a British detective closes in on what he believes are the best clues so far to the masterpieces’ hiding place, his key contact, an Irish gangster, has disappeared. John Wilson and a BBC camera crew chronicled the investigation for the documentary, which is to be shown on BBC4 next week.

The Guardian
Sun 11 Oct 2020

The Guardianhttps://www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/2020/oct/11/the-gangster-vanishes-twist-in-hunt-for-worlds-largest-haul-of-stolen-artnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3067098918914268503.post-29393638105208859512018-08-11T10:35:48.910+10:002018-08-11T10:35:48.910+10:00Many thanks, Will

With a $10 million reward on offer, how is it that not even a single piece in a haul estimated to be worth half a billion dollars has surfaced? Gone in 81 minutes, the Gardner loot ¬ and the thieves who made off with it ¬ remain at large.

With first-ever interviews, unprecedented access and over a year of investigative reporting, Last Seen takes us inside the ongoing effort to bring back the jewels of the Gardner collection. http://www.wbur.org/lastseen/

I don't know if this topic still interests you, but the podcasts are likely to be very well produced.

Regards,
William
Williamnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3067098918914268503.post-43479373612626910632013-10-16T10:05:08.603+11:002013-10-16T10:05:08.603+11:00Pat

The Great German collection spelled out visually and in text what the cultural war was all about.

Haus der Kunst was also worth examining as being culturally approved.Helshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02849907428208235392noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3067098918914268503.post-21340376895837671802013-10-16T10:00:42.991+11:002013-10-16T10:00:42.991+11:00Mandy

So the thefts had a dual purpose - to rid Europe of degenerate modernism and to save good art.

After the war they planned on wonderful national and private art galleries, filled with the good art.Helshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02849907428208235392noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3067098918914268503.post-83369755981458800852013-10-16T09:52:13.518+11:002013-10-16T09:52:13.518+11:00Hermes

The Germans ultimately intended to destroy European culture and create a single Arryan nation, did they not? Perhaps it is a stretch but I imagine the art lovers amongst the ranks were quite aware that the future world order would not be one of culture and art galleries.
